1) Stay on top of your oil. It may surprise you, but we see a lot of damage that could be avoided simply by checking your oil regularly. You should have your oil serviced every 3,500 – 5,000 miles depending on the age of your vehicle, your driving conditions and whether or not you are using synthetic or standard oil. If your oil runs too low, friction can send your tie rod straight through the engine block. An expensive repair.
2) Belt, Hoses and Brakes. You should also know the condition of your belts and hoses and the last time that they were replaced. And, Brakes are a no-brainer, if you are feeling or hearing any issues with your brakes, bring your vehicle to a professional. If something is going wrong with your brakes, you could wind up in our body shop.
3) Tires, Shocks / Struts. Your stopping power depends on more than just brakes. Make sure your tires are up to the task for your driving conditions. If your shocks are older than 50,000 miles, you may be losing stopping power from your suspension.
